In Math, students are working on: Understanding that the equal sign means, "The same as", by solving addition and subtraction equations with one variable.
Present students with equations, involving addition and subtraction, where there is one unknown number on either side of the equal sign.
Examples include:
15 – = 9
+ 8 = 13
17 = + 11,
7 = – 4
15 + 3 =
Ask students to solve the equations and then choose one and explain
their strategy.
In Language, students are writing a non-fiction brochure for a famous structure that includes:
*Text Features such as Headings and Subheadings and a variety of fonts
*Visual Literacy such as photographs, maps, charts
*Providing opinions and supporting opinions
